Strategies

Swampert is the only reliable heavy damage attacker in this deck. However, there are two more decent attackers which are Frost Rotom and Abomasnow. Especially, Frost Rotom can become very powerful depending on the situation. Also, you can't bring out the full potential of this theme deck without the help of MagCargo which will be discussed in the rest of the section.


Always focus on evolving Magcargo from the beginning of the match and put it on the bench. Magcargo is not meant to fight and that is the main reason to put it on the bench in order to prevent any damage on it. There are two reasons for dong this; firstly it has only one attack with 50 Damage for three energy which is not worth it and secondly we want to use its Ability Smooth Over throughout the entire game.

Magcargo's Ability Smooth Over is very powerful which allows you to search any card in your deck and put it on top of your deck. So, you will be able to get that card you have selected during your next time. However, there are two ways that allows you to get your selected card on the same turn after using the ability. One of the way is to use Supporter Cards that allow you to draw cards such as Hau or Professor Kukui which are available in this theme deck. Getting a card you want every turn almost guarantee your chance of winning and that makes Magcaro's Ability Smooth Over very powerful.


 


Swampert is not only main attacker but also supporter with useful Ability Power Draw. As I mentioned earlier, Supporter canrds can be used to get the selected card on the same turn after using Magcargo Ability. The other way to do is to use Swampert's Power Draw since Swampert's Ability allows you to draw three cards after you discards a card from your hand. Unlike Supporter Cards which can be used only one time, Swapert's Ability Card be used every turn. The combination of Swampert's Ability and Magcargo's Ability almost make your invincible. That's why it is very important to have Magcargo and Swampert as early problem.

Swampert Attack's Hydro Pump is very powerful comes with the base damage of 80. The attack damage can be increased by 20 every time you attached one Water Energy to it. Since most of the energy cards in this theme deck are Water Energy Cards, it is reasonable to assume that you will be attaching three Water Energy Cards which is the minimum requirement to use this attach. So, the attack damage become 120 instead of 80. You can further increased the damage depending on your opponent's Defending Pokemon's HP by attaching more Water Energy Cards. The Masked Royal Supporter Card can also be used to attach one extra Water Energy Card from your hand to Swampert.

 


Frost Rotom's Attack Frost Crush Damage can become massive although its base damage is only 10. This attack does 20 more Damage time the amount of energy attached to all of your Opponent's Pokemon. So, it is better to use Frost Rotom on late game since your opponent will have more and more energy cards attached to his or her Pokemon as the game goes on. On the other hand, the damage from Frost Crush will be not much if it is used in the early game. Unfortunately, its Ability not applicable in this theme deck since the deck doesn't have nine tools to use it.




Abomasnow still can be used as an Attacker although its Attack Hypno Hammer require you to attach four basic Energy Cards before using it and it has only 80 Base Damage. Its Ability Blessing Of The Forest is much better since it can attach one Water Energy Card from your discard pile to any of the Pokemon in play. You can use this Ability to either increase the Damage of Swampert or attach to your Active Pokemon which does not have enough Energy to perform Attack.




Last Pokemon I want to meson is Delcatty for its useful Ability Search For Friends. The Ability allows you to put 2 Supporters Cards from your Discard Pile into your hand after you successfully evolved into Delcatty. You can use this Ability when the Support Card you need to turn around the battle is in the Discard Pile.
