Strategies
- This is one of the All Rounded Decks and it is no wonder that it is recommended for Beginner by Pokemon TCG. Most of the Pokemon in this Theme Deck are either Grass Type or Fighting Type and so it is important to manage how you use two different types of basic energy cards. Otherwise, you will not have required energy type when you are needed to carry out an attack.
- If you have Deerling in your hand during your first turn, always use it as an Active Pokemon. Deerling's Attack Find a Friend allow you to search one Pokemon from your deck and put it in your hand. With this effect, you can find all pieces either Basic Pokemon or Evolved Pokemon that required you to win the battle based on your opponent's Pokemon in Play.
- Unlike other Theme Decks, you don't really need to evolve to get a High Damage Pokemon. Since, you have Zygrade which is a Basic Pokemon with two types of Attack. Both are useful depending on how you use it. Rumble one of Zygrade Attack is not very powerful but it comes with useful effect that prevent Opponent's Pokemon from retreating during next turn. This is really handy when you are dealing with Pokemon like Garchomp which has no retreat cost. The another attack is Geostrike, very powerful attack for Basic Pokemon and it has damage 120 for three basic energies and the only trade off is the attack deal 10 damage to each of your Benched Pokemon which is still worth it.
- Since Zygrade has both High HP and High Attack, it allso come with two retreat cost. as mentioned earlier it is really important to manage in using different types of energy because each type of energy has very limited quantity. Once you retreat it, you need to wait until you have at least two Fighting Energy Cards in your hands to perform Geostrike Attack. That where Switch come in since this Item Cards allow you to switch your Active Pokemon with one of your Benched Pokemon without costing any energy cards.
- Using Zygrade's Geostrike will damage each of your Benched Pokemon and there might be time you need to heal those Damage Benched Pokemon. You can heal your Pokemon either using Pokemon's Attack or Item Card in this Theme Deck.
- The best option is to use Wormadam's Solar Ray Attack. Not only the attack heals 20 damage from each of your Benched Pokemon but alos it incurs 20 Damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon. Also, you can use Cinccino's Attack Sweeping Cure to heal 90 damage from one of your Pokemon in play.. Removing 90 Damage from your injured Pokemon can change the tide of the battle especially if the heal Pokemon is heavy attacker. The last way is to use the Potion Item Card which allows you to heal 30 Damage from your Pokemon.
- If you manage to evolve Servine from your hand, you can use its ability Serpentile Strangle to flip a coin and if you got head, the opponent's Active Pokemon will be Paralyzed. Although the chance of getting head is 50%, it is similar to attacking twice without taking damage from your opponent.
- Serperior is very efficient Pokemon you only need one Grass Energy to perform its powerful attack. But, remember not to attach Fighting Energy if possible since you will need to attach another Grass Energy Card to use the other attack. The first Attack is Coil which has 40 base Damage and you also get 60 bonus damage during your next turn for using this attack. The second Attack is Slashing Strike which has Base Damage of 80 and the damage can be increase to 140 (80+60) if you use Coil Attack Previous. However, you cannot use Slashing Strike again during your next turn.
- There is a way for you to evolve Servine and Serperior during the same turn. In order to do that you must has Servine in your hand and evolve as normal. After evolving to Servine, use Trainer Card Wally to search Serperior from your deck and evlve it. In addition, if you managed to paralyze your opponent's Pokemon from Servine's Ability, you can Attack Twice using Serperior and the damage will be massive. [Attack Twice: Coil [40] + Slashing Strike [80 + 60] = 180 Total Damage ]
- Both Hawlucha's Attack Wicked Jab and Shuckle's Attack Wrap can paralyze your Opponent's Active Pokemon after you managed to get Head from flipping a coin. This status effect can be handy when you try to drag a battle longer while waiting for getting specific card to turn the battle around.
- In addition, both of the Pokemon come with an Attack that allows you to draw card. Especially, High a Berry from Shuckle is very useful since its allow you to draw 2 Cards first then put one cards from your hand to bottom of your deck and this includes 2 Cards you just draw also You can use this effect to put unwanted card back into you deck when dealing with Opponent's Pokemon like Gumshoo's Identify Attack which boost its damage when you have at least one Pokemon in your hand.
- You can use Energy Pouch Item Cards to conserve energy as this card allow you to put back all the attached Energy Cards from your Defending Pokemon when it is knocked out from your opponent's Pokemon Attack. As the Energy Cards are quire limited for both Grass and Fighting Types, it is recommended to attach this Item Card to Pokemon with High Energy Cost Attack like Zygrade.
- Prefessor's Letter is mainly for managing your energy and this Item Card assists you in getting right Type of Energy for your Pokemon in play. As it allows you to draw 2 Basic Energy Cards of any type from your deck and put them into your hand.
