Strategies

As shown in the cover of the deck, the main pokemon is Hydreigon followed by the second main attacker Houndoom. This deck predominanly focus on dark type Pokemon as main attacker although there are other two pokemon: Oranguru and Bewear which can be still used as attackers with decent damage. Other than that there deck consist of pokemon with interesting ability that will change the tide of the battle in favorable position if you know how to use it.

Hydreigon, one of the pseudo legendary pokemon possess both powerful attack and interesting ability in this deck. It's Dark Destrucion has huge damage of 130 with the extra effect of discarding one energy from your opponent defending pokemon. If you choose to discard energy, you have to discard one energy from Hydreigon as well. So, only use this effect when you have the extra energy in your hand or you are certain your opponent does not have the extra energy to equip it's defending pokemon or other pokemon on the bench.

Regrading to discarding energy, there is one other pokemon which you can use to discard energy too. Mawile's attack Crunch with 30 damage let you discard energy only when you successfully got head from flipping a coin. So, it is not guarantee that you can discard energy every time you use that attack but its good to deal with defending pokemon which required high number of energy to use its attack since you have more frequency to use this attack before your opponent knock out your pokemon.

Weed Out, Hydreigon Ability allows you to choose three pokemon from your bench and discard other bench pokemon every turn. One way to use this ability is retreat your defending pokemon which can be knocked out from any attack and replace with strong pokemon that are ready to attack like Hydreigon. Then use this ability to discard the retreated pokemon, this will not only prevent your opponent from getting prize card but also allow you to damage the opponent defending pokemon with stronger pokemon.

Hydreigon

The other main attacker, Houndoom is straight forward as you just need to equip with two energy or three energy to use Fire Fang with 30 Damage (Burn Effect) or Puncturing Fang with 90 Damage respectively.

Houndoom

Oranguru's Psychic attack is exactly same Alolan Raichu's Psychic attack from Clanging Thunder Theme Deck. Similarly, Salazzle can be found from Twilight Rogue Theme Deck. The techniqures of how to use these two pokemon can be found at Clanging Thunder and Twilight Rogue respectively.

What I would like to to discussed is Oranguru's Ability Instruct that allows you to draw until you have three card in your hand every turn. Instruct become very useful when there is no card in your hand because you might only draw basic pokemon at the start of your game and all these pokemon has been put it on the bench.

Oranguru

There is still one more Pokemon with ability. Bewear, its ability Rake It In allow you to draw three cards when you evolve Stufful to Bewear.
