Overview
Charizard Cards are always famous for their huge damage and Charizard VSTAR is no exception. Charizard VSTAR has 280 HP which is lower than Pokemon VMAX HP. There is also a benefit of having lower HP as your opponent can only takes 2 Prize Cards when your Pokemon VSTAR is knocked out. In addition, most of the Pokemon V don't have 280 or higher damage so these Pokemon still need to 2HKO Charizard VSTAR. In a way, VSTAR Pokemon are better than Pokemon VMAX when comes to losing Prize Cards.
Charizard VSTAR main attack Explosive Fire needs 3 Energy [2 Fire and 1 Colorless] to use and has 130 base damage. This damage can be increased to 230 damage if Charizard VSTAR has at least 1 damage counter. The good thing is about this attack is that you don't have to recharge like Gengar VMAX G-MAX Swallow Up or Boltund VMAX Max Bolt after using it You can use this attack every turn until our Charizard VSTAR is knocked out. Also, 230 damage can OHKO most of the Basic Pokemon V.
Charizard VSTAR Power is attack type which mean you need to attach required Energy to use it. Its VSTAR Power, Star Blaze needs 4 Energy [3 Fire Energy and 1 Energy] to use and has 320 damage. But, you need to discard 2 Energy from it after using Star Blaze. This attack is meant to OHKO your opponent's Pokemon VMAX since they have around 320 HP. By the way, you are only allowed to use 1 VSTAR Power for the whole game.
The new Basic Charizard V has decent attacks. Its first attack, Incinerate has 90 damage and let you discard all Pokemon Tools from your opponent's Active Pokemon before doing any damage and 3 Energy is required to use this attack. So, your opponent's Active Pokemon Pokemon Tools won't have any effect Incinerate damage. The other attack, Heat Blast has pure 180 damage with no effect and you need 4 Energy [3 Fire Energy and 1 Colorless Energy ] to use this attack.
Energy Setup
The new Stadium, Magma Basin is the best card to accelerate Fire Energy to Fire Pokemon. This Stadium allows you to attach 1 Fire Energy from your discard pile to 1 of your Benched Fire Pokemon during your turn. You need to put 2 damage counters on that Benched Charizard VSTAR after using Magma Basin. This is good for Charizard VSTAR Explosive Fire as this attack damage will be increased due to 2 damage counters on Charizard VSTAR. Quick Ball and Professor's Research will be used in this deck to discard Fire Energy.
If 1 of your Pokemon was knocked out during last turn, you can use Raihan to attach 1 more Basic Energy from your discard pile to your Charizard VSTAR. After that, you can attach 1 Energy to Charizard VSTAR manually from your hand. With this setup strategy, you will be able to attach 3 Energy to your Charizard VSTAR within 1 turn and will be able to use its Explosive Fire immediately.
Since Magma Basin only let you accelerate Energy to your Benched Charizard VSTAR, you need to retreat your current Active Pokemon and make Charizard VSTAR Pokemon as your new Active Pokemon. Attaching Air Balloon to your current Active Pokemon [2 or less Retreat Cost] let you retreat it without discarding any Energy.
Additional Attackers
Charizard VSTAR Explosive Fire can't OHKO your opponent's Pokemon VMAX. It is possible that your Charizard VSTAR will be knocked out before using Explosive Fire second time to KO your opponent's Pokemon VMAX. In this situation, you can use Moltres attack Detonating Wings to knock out your opponent's Pokemon VMAX since most of your opponent's Pokemon VMAX have 320 or less HP and their HP will become 90 or less after receiving 1 attack from Explosive Fire . And, Detonating Wings has 20 base damage and this damage can be increased to 90 if there is at least 1 damage counter on Moltres. And, you only need 1 Fire Energy to use Detonating Wings.
Houndoom V attack, Vengeful Flame is very compactible with Magma Basin. Even though Vengeful Flame has 100 base damage for 3 Energy, this attack does extra 100 damage if any of your Benched Fire Pokemon has at least on damage counter on it. This deck relies on Magma Basin to accelerate Energy and therefore, there will be always damage counters on your Benched Pokemon. In other words, Vegeful Flame will deal 200 damage most of the time.
Putting Damage Counters
There are some Pokemon VMAX which have 330 or more HP and can't be OHKO by VSTAR Power: Star Blaze. To OHKO those Pokemon VMAX with Star Blaze, you need to reduce their HP to 320 before attacking. This can be done with Inteleon [Rapid Strike] Ability Quick Shooting which let your put 2 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's Pokemon. In addition, Inteleon pre-evolution, Drizzile Ability Shady Deal is great for searching Magma Basin from your deck because this Ability let you search 1 Trainers when you evolve Sobble into Drizzle from your hand.
