Overview
Claydol is a good single prize card with great low Energy attacks. Claydol second attack, Ancient Seal let you put damage counters on your opponent's Active Pokemon until its remaining HP is 60. And only 2 Fighting Energy is required to use this attack. It is very easy to KO opponent's Active Pokemon with 60 HP remaining. In other words, Ancient Seal attack allows you to 2HKO any Pokemon V or Pokemon VMAX. Although Ancient Seal has no fixed damage, this attack can be considered 240+ damage when facing Pokemon VMAX.
Another attack of Claydol is Rapid Spin and this attack also requires 2 Energy. Rapid Spin attack has 30 base damage and this attack let you switch Claydol with 1 of your Benched Pokemon. After switching your Claydol, your opponent also needs to switch their Active Pokemon with 1 of their Benched Pokemon. You can use this attack in different situations. One way is to stall your opponent from attacking by forcing their Attacker to switch it with their Benched Pokemon while you are setting up.
As you notice, Claydol doesn't have 60 or higher damage attack. I definitely won't recommend you to KO your opponent's Active Pokemon with 60 HP remaining using Rapid Spin since you need 2 more turns to knock it out. So, it is better to use other Pokemon with 60 or higher damage attack.
Second Attacker
As mentioned earlier, Claydol Deck needs another attacker to 2HKO any Pokemon V or Pokemon VMAX. Lycanroc VMAX is the perfect partner for Claydol. Lycanroc VMAX first attack, Hunting Claw complements Claydol's Ancient Seal attack as Hunting Claw KO 1 of your opponent's Pokemon with 60 HP remaining. Only 1 Fighting Energy is required to use this attack. With Hunting Claw, even if your opponent's retreat Pokemon VMAX with 60 HP remaining, you can easily KO it.
The deck can be considered a fast deck because both Claydol and Lycanroc VMAX only need to evolve 1 times and their respective attacks require very few Energy.
Zero Retreat Cost
After you use Claydol Ancient Seal attack, you need to switch it with Benched Lycanroc VMAX to KO your opponent Pokemon during your next turn. Since Claydol has 2 Energy in Retreat Cost, you can equip it with Air Balloon to retreat without discarding any Energy.
Alternatively, you can use Escape Rope to switch both your Claydol and your opponent's Active Pokemon with respective Benched Pokemon.
Energy Acceleration
Although you don't really need to accelerate Energy for Claydol in the early game, you might need to accelerate Energy in the late game. With Raihan, you can attach 2 Fighting Energy in 1 turn [1 from discard pile using Raihan effect and 1 from your hand manually]. On top of that, Raihan also let you search 1 card from your deck. But, Raihan can be only used if 1 of your Pokemon was knocked out during your opponent's last turn.
