Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX and Empoleon V Deck

Overview

Rapid Strike Urshifu V and Empoleon V (Rapid Strike) are the only 2 Rapid Strike V Pokémon from Rapid Strike Master Japan Set. You might be wondering why do I put 2 different types (Fighting and Water)  of Pokemon together. Well, this is because there are quite a number of cool supporting cards for Rapid Strike Pokemon  especially Rapid Strike Energy.

In terms of Damage, Rapid Strike Urshifu V's second  attack Hundred Furious Blows has highest Based Damage (150 Damage) with the cost of 2 Fighting Energy and 1 Colorless Energy. Although, Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX's first attack Gale Thrust has only 30 Base Damage, this attack Damage can be increased to 150 Damage if Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX is moved from Bench to Active Spot before using this attack and you only need 1 Fighting Energy to use this attack. The second attack, G-MAX Rapid Flow of Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX is great for wiping out low HP Pokemon such as non V and non GX Pokemon since this attack does 120 Damage to 2 of your opponent's Pokemon but you have to pay heavy price to use this attack by discarding all Energy Cards attached to Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX.

Empoleon V has similar Damage range and its attack Swirling Slice has 130 Damage and an effect of moving 1 Energy from it to another 1 of your Pokemon. This attack makes Empoleon V a good early Attacker and Tanker since you still have a chance to move some of its Energy to other Pokemon like Urshifu V before it dies. It also has an Ability, Emperor Eyes which negate your opponent's non V and non GX Pokemon Abilities as long as it is an Active Pokemon.

Retreat Cost

Frequent Retreating or Switching is required to maintain Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX's Gale Thrust Damage (150 Damage). Some of the good cards for reducing Retreat Cost of Pokemon to 0 are Air Balloon and Tower of Water. Tower of Water (Stadium) is newly introduced card from Rapid Strike Master Japan Set and it has the similar effect has Air Balloon and this Stadium Card  reduces the Retreat Cost of Rapid Strike Pokemon by 2.

Alternatively, you can use Switch (Item) to switch between your Active Pokemon and Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX.

Energy

As mentioned earlier, Rapid Strike Energy is perfect Energy Card for Rapid Strike Urshifu V and Empoleon V.  Not only this Special Energy Card provide 2 Energy also fufils the Energy type requirement (Fighting or Water) for both Pokemon. Note that this Special Energy can be only attached to Rapid Strike Pokemon. Otherwise, it will be discarded.

If we look at the Empoleon V's attack and Rapid Strike Urshifu V's attack, there is 2 Colorless Energy and 1 Colorless Energy respectively. By taking advantage of Colorless Energy cost, we can use Welder (Supporter) and Fire Energy to attach up to 2 extra Energy in one turn depending on the Pokemon. With this set up, you will be able to attack in your first turn when you have Rapid Strike Energy, 2 Fire Energy and 1 Welder in your Hand.
