Strategies

Start with Farfetch'd as Active Pokemon at the start of the game if it is in your Hand. Just for 1 Colorless Energy, you can use its Attack Collect to Draw 2 Cards every turn.

It is very  important to draw as many cards as possible for this Theme Deck in the early game because all the main Attackers require 3 Energy to use their powerful attacks and all of them are either Stage 1 or Stage 2 Pokemon. So, having all the desired cards especially Squirtle, Watortle and Blastoise in the early game will increase your chance of winning the game.

Golduck Attack Amnesia can used to drag the game when you are trying to draw the required cards. Although this attack has very low Damage of 20, it comes with the very useful effect of preventing your opponent's Active Pokemon from using one of its Attacks during your opponent's next turn. If your opponent's Active Pokemon has only 1 Attack, your opponent's Pokemon can't attack your Golduck at all and your opponent's Pokemon need to retreat otherwise Golduck will eventually Knock Out that Pokemon. You might be probably thinking what if the opponent's Active Pokemon has more than 1 Attack. For this kinds of situation, it will be recommended to use Amnesia to block your opponent's Active Pokemon's Strongest Attack so that the opponent's Pokemon will be forced to use weaker Attack and you can drag the game longer.

I don't really recommend to use Golduck's other Attack Swim unless your opponent is using Water Pokemon Theme Deck. The reason is that this Attack required 3 Energies and it has only 90 Damage so it is not really worth to spend 3 Energies on this Attack. However, if your opponent's Pokemon any Water Energy attached to them, you can do extra 90 Damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.

Try not to evolve Pidgeotto into Pidgeot until you have all the cards you wanted in play. If you evolve Pidgeotto into Pidgeot, you can no longer use Pidgeotto Drawing Ability for the rest of the game. It's Ability Air Mail allows you to look at top 2 Cards of your Deck and put 1 of them into your Hand and the other card on the bottom of the Deck once per turn. Basically, you are getting 1 Extra Card every turn and removing unwanted card from getting drawn at the same time. This process enhance your chance of getting all the cards you wanted in short amount of time.

Pidgeot is recommended to use in the late game because of Pidgeotto's Ability and its Attack Spin Storm. Although the Attack Spin Storm has no Damage, it comes with the powerful effect of putting your opponent's Active Pokemon and all cards attached to it into his or her hand. This effect is very good in countering against your opponent's Active Pokemon with 3 or more Energy or Stage 2 Pokemon. Since once you use Spin Storm effect, your opponent has no choice but need to redo Evolving his or her main Pokemon and Attaching Energies to it.  When your opponent is busy doing the above process, you can use Pidgeot's Attack Whirlwind (60 Damage) to Knock Out Remaining Weak Pokemon. Also, note that Pidgeot's Whirlwind has an effect of required your opponent's Active Pokemon to switch with 1 of their Benched Pokemon.

Blastoise is the Strongest Attacker in this Theme Deck. It has both Powerful Ability and Strong Attack. Its Ability Poweful Squall allows you to look at top 6 cards of your Deck and attach any number of Water Energy Card you find there to your Pokemon in any way you like every turn. That's why it is very important to get Blastoise in play as soon as possible since its Ability solve your Energy Cost problem of all your Attackers.

Though Blstoise's Attack Hydro Taklee does 50 Damage to itself, it has very huge Damage of 150 just for 3 Water Energies. If you Professor Kukui before using Hydro Takle, the Damage will become 170 and this Damage is strong enough to take out any Pokemon in Theme Deck Battle.

Since Blastoise has high Retreat Cost (3 Energy) . you can use Switch Trainer Card to retreat Blastoise without discarding any Energy Card from it.

Setting up the right Pokemon onto your Bench is very important for this Theme Deck. There are two types of Trainer Cards that will help you in setting up the Bench Pokemon. The first one, Nest Ball allow you to put a Basic Pokemon from your Deck to your Bench and the other one, Pokemon Fan Club allows you to search 2 Basic Pokemon from your Deck and put them into your hand. Try to put either Pidgey ,Squirtle  or Psyduck on the Bench depending on the cards in your Hand.

The last Item Card Timer Ball can be use to draw an Evolution Pokemon from your Deck for each Head you get from flipping 2 Coins. If you are lucky enough, you can get upto 2 Evolution Pokemon. Try to use this effect on getting Pidgeotto as early as possible.
