Overview
Flygon can be built in a similar way as Leafeon VMAX. This is because both of their first attack has same effect. Flygon first attack, Desert Pillar requires only 1 Fighting Energy and does 50 damage for each Energy in your opponent's Active Pokemon Retreat Cost. In a way, Dessert Pillar is improved version of Leafeon VMAX attack, Grass Knock which requires 2 Energy to use. Usually, you can expect 100 damage from Dessert Pillar as most of the Pokemon have 2 Energy in Retreat Cost.
Flygon second attack, Blast WInd needs 2 Energy [1 Fighting Energy and 1 Colorless Energy] and has 110 damage. You won't be using this attack most of the time and you will only use this attack if your opponent's Pokemon has zero Retreat Cost.
In terms of toughness HP, it has decent HP of 150 for Single Prize Pokemon. Still, most of the Pokemon V can easily OHKO it. However, Flygon is , without a doubt , a great Single Prize Pokemon as you don't need to accelerate Energy for it and it has quite powerful damage.
Increase Damage
Even if the opponent Active Pokemon VMAX has 3 Retreat Cost, you can't kill 2HKO it if it has more than 300 HP. So, there is a need to increase damage for Dessert Pillar. And, the best way to do is by using Galar Mine. This Stadium increases the Retreat Cost of your opponent's Active Pokemon by 2 Energy. In other words, Dessert Pillar will deal additional 100 damage if Galar Mine is in play. With 2 or more Retreat Cost, your opponent's Pokemon also can't easily Retreat unless they have Switch, Escape Rope or Bird Keeper.
Pokemon Tools like Air Balloon are the best way to counter Flygon Dessert Pillar. These Items reduces the Retreat Cost of the Pokemon which in turn, reduces Dessert Pillar damage. However, you can equip Flygon with Tool Jammer and this will disable the effect of Air Balloon. So, Dessert Pillar will deal damage without any reduction.
Finding Trainers
Trainers such as Galar Mine and Tool Jammer are invaluable to Flygon Dessert Pillar. So, you need to have them in your as soon as possible. Shady Dealings is the best mechanic to found those Trainers from your deck. You can use Shady Dealings Ability to search 1 or 2 Trainers when you evolve Sobble into Drizzile with Shady Dealings or Drizzile into Inteleon with Shady Dealings from your hand. In addition, you can find useful Supporter like Boss's Order using Shady Dealings and then switch 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon that can be OHKO by Dessert Pillar and take Prize Card.
Damage Reduction
You can make Flygon tankier by using Stone Energy and Zamazenta V. Stone Energy makes Flygon takes 20 less damage from any of your opponent Pokemon attacks while Zamazenta V Ability makes Flygon takes 20 less damage from your opponent's Pokemon VMAX. Now, your opponent's Pokemon VMAX need 190 damage to OHKO Flygon VMAX. Thus, you Flygon might be able to take 2 attacks from some of the Pokemon VMAX.
