Overview
Golurk V Single Strike has an attack that has a potential to OHKO your opponent's VMAX Pokemon. Its second attack, Rewind Beam has 180 damage and has an effect of devolving your opponent's Active Pokemon by 1 Stage. In other words, if your opponent's VMAX Pokemon was devolved by this attack and its pre-evolution V Pokemon has a HP that is lower or equal to 180 HP, it will be knocked out immediately. But, you will take 2 Prize Cards instead of 3 Prize Cards. On the downside, Rewind Beam has high Energy Cost [2 Psychic Energy and 2 Colorless Energy].
Golurk V has a decent toughness sicne it has 220 HP and Fighting Resistance [-30 damage]. However, it has Dark Weakness so it can be easily OHKO by Single Prize Dark Pokemon.
Energy Setup
The most difficult part about playing Golurk V is its attack with very high Energy Cost. You must definitely have a way to accelerate Energy to it. Otherwise, your Golurk V will be knocked out even before it attacks.
Setting Up a few Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX will accelerate Psychic Energy cards to Golurk V because of the Ability Underworld Door. If you managed to set up 2 Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX, you will be able to attach 2 Psychic Energy from your hand to Golurk V. Also, you can find Psychic Energy or set up Basic Psychic Pokemon by using Fog Crystal.
The highest HP of V Pokemon that can evolve into VMAX Pokemon is 220 HP. at the moment. So, Golurk V Rewind Beam damage is not strong enough to OHKO those Pokemon. You can increase Golurk V damage by using Single Strike Energy . In order to get 220 damage to knock out any VMAX Pokemon, you need to attach 2 Single Strie Energy to Golurk V Single Strike.
Attaching Single Strike Energy to Golurk V will be very easy with the help of Houndoom Single Strike Ability Single Strike Roar. With 2 Houndoom Single Strike on your Bench, you will be able to attach 2 Single Strine Energy to Golurk V within the single turn.
Reduce HP
You can also reduce your opponent's non-Psychic Pokemon HP by using Old Cemetery. This Stadium will put 2 damage counters on non-Psychic Pokemon when an Energy from hand is attached to that Pokemon. Lowering your opponent's V Pokemon HP before you use Rewinding Beam will inrease your chances of OHKO your opponent's VMAX Pokemon.
